If we don't grow, we aren't really living"

Commonly individuals and couples may seek psychological support for a wide range of issues at this time including:
• Birth trauma/PTSD
• Postnatal depression and/or anxiety
• The impact of physical issues and recovery following a medically complex birth
• The impact of premature birth and/or NICU stays including grief and trauma
• Fear and anxiety surrounding the baby’s health and well-being including intrusive thoughts and excessive checking behaviour
• Guilt, shame, and feelings of failure related to the birth, breastfeeding, early parenting
• Difficulties in your relationship since becoming parents (conflict, roles, and identity)
• Dealing with resurfaced childhood issues e.g. abuse or difficult parental relationships
• Struggling with your identity now you are a parent (feeling lost in motherhood)
• Preparing to return to work
<< For everyone, having a baby is life-changing,
and for many new parents, there will be mixed emotions
and challenges that come along with this. >>
As a Clinical Psychologist I am experienced in working to support people following traumatic events and through difficult experiences and times in their lives.
I am qualified to draw on a range of therapeutic models to understand your experiences and support you to make the changes you want to your life.
My postnatal wellbeing work often involves an integrative approach informed by Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Systemic Therapies.
In relation to recent and historic trauma I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused CBT TFCBT (the two recommended therapeutic approaches to treat PTSD and Trauma in the NICE guidelines).
